Chelsea - Newcastle

December 13th 2006 01:04

This could be a crucial match for hosts. Current gap between Chelsea and Manchester Utd is 8 points and with the win today Chelsea will decrease difference to acceptable 5 points. Chelsea is without win in two consecutive EPL matches . They’ve drew with both Manchester and Arsenal 1:1. I really can’t remember when Chelsea under Mourinho missed two matches in a row. All in team are extremely motivated for this match , because all are aware of importance to take 3 points in match. Chelsea is still without first choice GK Cech, also Joe Cole and Cudicini are out.

Squad: Hilario, Hedman, Terry, Carvalho, A.Cole, Boulahruz, Makelele, Essien, Lampard, Ballack, Geremi, John Obi, Wright-Philips, Shevchenko, Drogba, Robben.

Including UEFA Cup competition , Newcastle is in 8 matches unbeaten row. Last league they’ve won against direct opponent in lower part of the table Blackburn and with this win Newcastle is again in the safe part of the table. The main problem for Newcastle today comes from decimated squad. Captain Parker , Duff , Moore, Bramble , Dyer ,Emre , Solano , Carr and Bernard , plus long absentees Harper, Ameobi, Krul and Owen. So, Roeder has lot of problems with composing the team for match and probably , he will be forced to include some , young , inexperienced players in team.

Squad: Given, Srnicek, Ramage, Taylor, Babayaro, Huntington, Butt, Milner, N’Zogbia, Pattison, O’Brien, Sibierski, Martins, Luque, Rossi

Regarding the importance of the match for the home side, long injury list of the guests and more than positive tradition in Chelsea favor , home win is not doubtful. But with under all circumstances I think Chelsea should win with at least two goals difference. Chelsea AH -1.5.

No doubt for me too, Chelsea 2:0 . What you think about Arsenal today ? In my opinion Arsenal finally should win an away encounter.

Daressi,

You and milesh seem to have a good thing going there.

Do you make any money from blogging here?

I'm good with hits, no good with clicks, and that is where the money is, what little of it there is.

Nothing correct here. Chelsea were almost weaker team during match . And my bet is not good. I count only that ...

Newcastle have shown remarkable improvement lately, and I'm quite sure many premiership teams would face problems when playing against United.
But Chelsea were in a MUST win situation, and I would have put my appartment on their win if I was that kind of person. Though, I decided to follow your suggestion because of the better odds, maybe we should have taken in to more due consideration Newcastle's form(but they lacked half of their goddamn team, after all...), but anyway - next time better
I await Saturday's round, Newcastle - Watford, and I would put higher stakes on this one for the home win. It should compensate for today

Cheers for the good work, and more luck next time!

Thanks for good words finchy .

I'm very unsatisfied with Chelsea performances against Newcastle. IMO Drogba should started this match . With him in team Chelsea is a at least one class better team.

Drogba was suffering from a hamstring niggle sustained in the draw with Arsenal so Mourinho rested him.

However, he was arrogant in resting the midfield linch-pin that is Makelele.

Shevchenko, on the other hand, was dropped.
