El Clasico
March 10th 2007 17:37
This week was one of the worst for Spanish club football as both Barcelona and Real were eliminated from Champions League.
Barcelona lost last week in Sevilla 2:1, but I can’t say they’ve played bad. Also in previous rounds Barcelona showed pretty good performances, so I believe they could continue that way. This match have long tradition in Spain, so importance is huge for both teams. I think this is the more important match for fans and they will easily forget about CL fiasco if their favorite team win tonight. Barcelona is laying on 2nd place , with only 1 point less than Sevilla and they are still very serious competitors for the title. Barcelona play very offensive football, which I certainly prefer, and that could make some problems for lately pale Real Madrid. Barcelona will be without Giuly , Zambrotta and Motta. Ronaldinho should be recovered. By the way , today is a Etoo’s birthday so we could expect his specially inspired performance.
Probable: 1 Valdes, 23 Oleguer, 21 Thuram, 5 Puyol, 12 Van Bronckhorst, 4 Marquez, 6 Xavi, 24 Iniesta, 19 Messi, 9 Eto,o, 10 Ronaldinho
Real is without win for long time in Primera and lately they do not look like a team with big ambitions. They play very poor , almost disinterested , but probably, against Barcelona they will be more agile. However , they have big problems with squad as Roberto Carlos, Cannavaro, Reyes, Beckham and Cicinho are all out injured , while Ramos, Diarra and Miguel Torres are rated as doubtful. I expect lot of problems for them in the midfield and also I see there a key for Barcelona win.
Probable: 1 Casillas, 2 Michel Salgado, 21 Helguera, 4 Sergio Ramos, 38 Torres, 16 Gago, 6 Diarra, 20 Higuain, 14 Guti, 10 Robinho, 17 Van Nistelrooy
So, Barca to win (around 1.75) or Barca AH -0.75 with slight better odds ( 1.98 @ bet365).
