ASIAN HANDICAP GUIDE

November 18th 2006 00:39
Asian handicap (AH) is a way of betting. This form of betting is very popular in Asia , therefore the name Asian handicap. In Asian handicap draw outcome is eliminated , so chances for winning are 1:2 , in contrast to fixed odds betting with possibility 1:3. The best way to understand AH is to read following examples

ASIAN HANDICAP 0 (AH 0)

Usually settled by bookies when both teams have equal chances to win.

Example: Chelsea v Manchester Utd 1.85 0:0 1.95

If you make bet on Chelsea you will win in case of Chelsea won .

If you make bet on Manchester you will win in case Manchester won.

In case of draw your stake is back.

ASIAN HANDICAP 0.25 or ¼ (AH 0.25)

This handicap has special rule in case of draw , you win half sum of possible profit or you lose half stake.

Example: Chelsea v Liverpool 1.85 0: ¼ 1.95

Therefore, Liverpool have advantage of ¼ goal before match.

If you make bet on Chelsea you will win in case Chelsea won.

If you bet on Liverpool you will win in case Liverpool won .

In case of draw , you lose half stake if you made bet on Chelsea , or if you made bet on Liverpool you will gain only half of assumed profit ( you made 10 euros bet ,instead 9.5 profit is 4.75)

ASIAN HANDICAP 0.5 or ½ (AH 0.5)

Example : Liverpool v Tottenham 1.85 0: ½ 1.95

Therefore, Tottenham have advantage of ½ goal before match.

If you bet on Liverpool you win only if Liverpool won.

If you bet on Tottenham you win in case match ended draw or Tottenham won.

ASIAN HANDICAP 0.75 or ¾ (AH 0.75)

This handicap has special rule, you win half sum of possible profit or you lose half stake.

Example: Tottenham v Newcastle 1.85 0: ¾ 1.95

Therefore, Newcastle have advantage of ¾ goal before match.

If you bet on Tottenham you will win if Tottenham won by 2 or more goals.

If you bet on Newcastle you will win if match ended draw or Newcastle won.

In case Tottenham won just by one goal, and you made bet on Tottenham you will gain only half of assumed profit (you made 10 euros bet, instead 8.5 profit is 4.25). If you made bet on Newcastle you lose half stake.

ASIAN HANDICAP 1 (AH 1)

Example: Chelsea v Sheffield Utd 1.85 0:1 1.95

Therefore, Sheffield have advantage of 1 goal before match.

If you made bet on Chelsea you will win in case Chelsea won by 2 goals or more.

If you made bet on Sheffield you will win if match ended draw or Sheffield won.

In case Chelsea won by one goal your stake is back .

There are other Asian handicaps AH 1.25, AH 1.50, AH 1.75, AH 2 ... but main principles are the same like in previous examples .
