PSV Vs. Twente

Short preview.
It’s finally happened , PSV is not on the leading position after yesterdays Ajax won over NAC. PSV is the hardest position from the begging of this season and today they must play only for win. They had huge advantage just month ago , but now they could destroy all hard work. Twente is not an easy team to beat and PSV already lost in the first part of the season 1:0. All in team are aware how difficult current situation is and I think all players who play today must play with 110% of their strength and knowledge. For PSV, Alex, Reiziger, Tardelli, de Jong and Feher are out , but they will be reinforced with Affelay , Mendez and Kromkamp.

Twente don’t have need for points as they are safe on 4th spot. But that doesn’t mean they will play without motivation because every match against big names in Holland is strong motivation for any team. Twente is without Kamphuis , Geritsen , Gerk and Wiltshire.

I can't imagine anything else than PSV win and my pick is PSV AH -0.75 (1.90 @ bet365).

Benfica – Espanyol

Week ago Benfica was down by 3:0, but till the end of the match they scored twice in short time and finally they’ve lost 3:2. It’s pretty good result for them because any win in Lisbon is enough for Semi-finals. Benfica play excellent in Lisbon and many teams left points there. This is very important moment for them and previous wins will worth nothing if they fail today. For Benfica Rui Costa is fully fit after some time and he will help his team today, as well as Katsouranis who served one match ban in Spain. Benfica have Luisao and Jorge out of the squad while Miccoli and Petit are doubts which could be a possible problem for them. But still, I believe at least one of them will play today.

Espanyol comes to Lisbon with great stats from this season UEFA Cup. They didn’t lost any match so far and they are team with most goals scored (27). But they should expect hell against Benfica and I’m sure this will be match harder than any previous. Espanyol won on the weekend against Sociedad 1:0 , but coach rested Rufete, De la Pena and Chico, so they should be prepared well for today. Espanyol will be weakened on this match as their captain and important striker Tamudo is out injured.

In my opinion it’s not easy match for both teams, but Benfica have more experience in important matches like this, they have players with great qualities but they also function good as a team. I think Benfica will win today ( 1.80 @ interwetten).

Tottenham – Sevilla

Tottenham was at least equal team with Sevilla one week ago but questionable penalty ruined early Tottenham lead. After that Sevilla scored one more time for final 2:1. Tottenham is very motivated to win against Sevilla. Jol have rested the most important players on the weekend as he wants to have fully prepared Tottenham today. Tottenham is especially strong at Lane and in Europe they’ve won all matches on their home ground. Tottenham is without Stalteri and Rocha but Ledley King is back in squad and he will probably start in defense.

Probable team: Robinson; Tainio, Dawson, King, Chimbonda; Lennon, Zokora, Jenas, Malbranque; Berbatov, Keane.

Sevilla’s coach Ramos also rested few players in draw match against Santander and obviously they also put all in this match. Sevilla is not in perfect form and far from home they are not especially strong. They have chances for another round but I think they cannot win in London. Sevilla is without first choice goalkeeper Palop who is injured and he will be deputized with Cobeño. Also striker Chevantón got injury last weekend and this is additional problem for the visitors. Luis Fabiano served his ban in first leg and he will be ready for this match.

Probable team: Cobeño; Hinkel, Navarro, Escudé, Castedo; Alves, Poulsen, Maresca, Correia; Renato; Kanouté

As I already said I think Tottenham will not lose this match. They have better chances to win this fixture and home win could be a good choice here. However, I will go for something safer , Tottenham with AH 0 ( 1.65 @ interwetten).

Werder – AZ

Short preview.
Werder is without injured Per Mertsacker and this is major blow for home team. They are also without Pierre Wome, Daniel Jensen and Christian Schulz.Werder have scoring crisis and that will be their main problem on this match, especially because AZ started to pay more attention in defense. Werder is not in great form and certainly not big favorites as odds suggest.

AZ have Steinsson suspended and few injured players Joey Didulica ,David Mendes and Barry Opdam but they are out of squad for a long time . Schaars is recovered after injury and he will probably play , but maybe not from begging. AZ already proved they are very dangerous team and I think they have fair chances to reach Semi-finals. They are excellent in attack with Koevermars and Arveladze and I expect problems for weakened Werder defense today.

In my opinion AZ have fair chances to stay unbeaten today X2 ( 2.45 @ Expect) or go for safer bet AZ AH 1 ( 1.80 @ bet365)

NEC vs PSV

NEC - PSV

Just four rounds before end of Eredivisie season situation on top is still not clear. PSV have just 3 points more than second Ajax. In last round PSV took only draw against Breda, and round before they’ve heavily lost at home against main opponent Ajax 1:5. In the meantime they had another defeat , this time in Champions League against Liverpool 0:3. So, it looks like PSV is not in real form. But , in my opinion, main reason for such poor performances was absence of , at first place their best striker Jefferson Farfan. He is fit again and he will play against NEC from the begging. And more, another injured striker Arouna Kone is back in squad , so two good reasons for optimism in PSV team. However, Michael Reiziger , defender Alex and Ibrahim Afellay are still injured and also there are some doubts over Jan Kromkamp and Edison Mendez.

Their opponents NEC is on 11th place with 37 points or 5 points bellow UEFA Cup zone. They also play very poor lately and in last two matches they’ve lost to Willem II and Excelsior. Of course, NEC still have a chances to take a ticket for the Europe, but against PSV they shouldn’t count on points. They will be also reinforced with Beerens and Baretto , but striker Niedzielan , Vanaudenaerde, Pothuizen and Snoyl are out injured.

In previous seasons PSV didn’t have any problems with NEC, so I don’t see a reason why they should have problems in this crucial moment for the title race. PSV is just too strong for NAC and I’m highly confident they will win this match. My pick is PSV AH -0.75 (1.98 @ bet365).

AZ Alkmaar - Werder

AZ Alkmaar - Werder

AZ is still without defeat at home in European competitions. For now, they have unbeaten row of 29 matches and against Werder they will look for another good result. In previous round they’ve played two different matches, first in Newcastle which they’ve lost 4:2 and then at home which they’ve won 2:0. Obviously, they are much powerful in Alkmaar and if they want fair chances in second leg they must at least draw today. AZ is already know either in Holland and Europe as strong attacking collective. They play 4-3-3 formation which function well for this team. Lately, they’ve started to play much better in defense and if they can continue with similar performances then they have good chances for win. They have few long time injured players, but also one new, defender Barry Opdam . Winger Nourdin Boukhari, but he will be in squad.

Probable team:

16-Boy Waterman; 23-Gretar Steinsson, 2-Kew Jaliens, 14-Ryan Donk, 5-Tim de Cler; 27-Julian Jenner, 20-Demy de Zeeuw, 11-Maarten Martens; 9-Shota Arveladze, 19-Danny Koevermans, 18-Moussa Dembele.

Werder don’t play their best lately and such results are probably caused by very poor Klose performances. However, in previous round they’ve eliminated Celta and round before they had one more Dutch opponent , Ajax. Werder lost then in Amsterdam 3:1 , so it looks they are not great against Holland teams. But, Werder is still strong team with great defense and middle and if they can stop AZ strikers they have good chances to stay unbeaten. But AZ will exploit any mistake and Werder should be aware of it.

Probable team:

18-Tim Wiese; 8-Clemens Fritz, 29-Per Mertesacker, 4-Naldo, 5-Pierre Wome; 7-Jurica Vranjes, 22-Torsten Frings, 10-Diego, 20-Daniel Jensen; 14-Aaron Hunt, 11-Miroslav Klose

I think AZ will continue with great performances at home and that’s why I believe they will not lose this match. However, draw will not satisfy neither Louis van Gaal nor players and they will give 110% of their strength to win. My pick is AZ Alkmaar AH 0 ( 2.00 @ Pinnacle).
