Excelsior - Feyenoord

Excelsior is 5 matches without a single point . Last match they’ve won against Heracles at home about one month ago. Team is in results crisis and I think they have problem with very “tight” schedule as they’ve played 3 matches in just one week and for teams like Excelsior is this is too much because they do not have enough quality players in the team. They are forced to play with less players in rotation , so in my opinion players must be tired. That will be one of disadvantages for home team today. Excelsior will be without Hertog and Gyan while Bandjar Guijo-Velasco and Andwele Slory (best striker in team) are all doubtful because of injuries.

Feyenoord do not have brightest season so far , but their latest performances are good. In last match they’ve drew with best team in league PSV 1:1 , and now they expect to finish first half of the season with win. Feyenoord have problems to win in away matches but at home they are one of the best in league, so definitely this team have potential and compared to Excelsior they are class better. Feyenoord will be without Castelen , Collen , Lodewijks ,Saidi and Tiendall.

Maybe is worth to mention that Excelsior and Feyenoord have good relations and many Feyenoord youngsters “growing” in Excelsior team. But no matter about it , I think Feyenoord should win today as they are more quality team than hosts. So, Feyenoord AH -0.5( 1.55 @ 10bet) , Feyenoord AH -0.75 ( 1.77 @ 10bet) or Feyenoord AH -1 (2.01 @ Pinnacle) . The choice is yours , I will go for the safest option.

Roda - Twente

Roda have really difficult period . Last mach they’ve lost 2:4 but after their lead of 2:0. Anyway , Vitesse was dominant team all match and they’ve deservedly won. I know that Roda do not have some great players in team and they are much weaker than in previous years. They have very unsteady form and match against Vitesse is not the first one they lost because of lot of mistakes and not well prepared team. Today they will miss few players , van Dessel , Rompelberg , Vandamme and De Fauw are all out.

Team: Kujovic(Castro), Moudou-Kah, Lachambre, Saeijs, de Jong , Agustien, Meeuwis, Oper, Cissé, Bodor , Ramzi

The other side Twente is one of the most prepared teams in Eredivisie . They are laying at 4th place , right behind Ajax . Last match they’ve won against excellent team Heerenveen at home 5:1 and that talks a lot about their current form. The same team is expected to start this match too as the only injured are long terms Kamphuis, Gakhokidze and Gerritsen. Twente is capable to compete with the strongest team in league and I think they should win in this match. Player to watch is definitely veteran striker Kufo who have excellent season .

Team: Boschker,Heubach,Wielaert,Zomer,Bakircioglu,El Ahmadi,Engelaar,Touma,Wilkshire, Bakkal , N’Kufo.

Twente is much better composed team and anything but Twente win will be a big surprise. My pick is Twente AH 0.

Machester City - Bolton Wanderers

Manchester lost last match at home against Tottenham 1:2 and this is their first lost at home this season. Now they expect another tough opponent Bolton and I think they will have lot of problems to make satisfying result today. City is without long terms injured Jihai, Beasley, Mills, Sinclair ,Dietmar Hamann, also Corradi will not play while Reyna and Richards are doubtful. Good news is Thatcher is back in team. So, not superb situation for home side.

Team: Weaver, Richards, Dunne, Distin, Jordan, Trabelsi, Barton, Reyna, Vassell, Dickov, Samaras

Bolton won last match away against Aston Villa 0:1 and now they expecting this match with fully confidence . However , they will not have an easy job too , because City are good defensive team , just like Bolton are. O’Brien, Fortune, Giannakopoulos are out as well as suspended Kevin Davies. Bolton is team in form and I think they will have slight advantage on this match .

Team: Jaaskelainen, Hunt, Meite, Faye, Campo, Nolan, Speed, Anelka, Pedersen, Davis, Diouf.


In my opinion this could be an low scoring match so under 2.5 is one option here. On the other side I cannot see a winner here , but like I said Bolton will have the edge. So, braver should try with draw and I will go for Bolton AH 0.25 (1.76 @ 10bet)

Brescia - Bologna

Brescia lost last league match against Napoli 3:1. They are average team with no so great performances this season. Today they have hard task against Bologna. Brescia do not have very competitive squad in Serie B and that’s why they are in the middle of table and I think they do not have real chances for promotion this year. Brescia will be motivated against Bologna , but I think this is not enough for positive result tonight .

Brescia : Ambrosio, Cerci, Colombo, Cortellini, De Maio, Hamsik, Jadid, Maccan, Mannini, Mustacchio, Piangerelli, Possanzini, Santacroce, Serafini, Stankevicius, Viviano, Zambelli, Zambrella and Zoboli

Bologna lost in the midweek against Juventus at home 0:1 and now they need win to forget that match and to consolidate table position. They have strong squad , in my opinion , strong enough even for Serie A and they are favorites to win this fixture. Belluci and Cipriani are out for this match but still Bologna have lot of quality players in team:

Bologna: Antonioli, Colombo/Brioschi, Castellini, Daino, Manfredini, Mezzano, Smit, Terzi, Torrisi/Amoroso, Filippini, Meghni, Mingazzini, Morosini, Nervo, Zauli/Della Rocca, Fantini, Marazzina.

In my opinion Bologna is closer to win tonight and I will take Bologna AH 0.

Newcastle - Chelsea

These teams have played league match one week ago and Chelsea won that fixture 1:0.

Newcastle have great results lately and if we don’t count match against Chelsea , they have 9 matches without losing . Newcastle is very interested for this competition and I see them much more motivated to reach another round. Newcastle don’t have big squad problems, only Solano and Emre are doubtful but with fair chances to play and Babayaro is suspended.

Newcastle squad: Given, Srnicek, Solano, Taylor, Ramage, Huntington, Parker, Butt, Emre, Milner, Duff, Pattison, Troisi, Gate, Edgar, Martins, Dyer, Sibierski, Luque, Rossi, Carroll.

Chelsea don’t have great performances lately ( only last 15-20 minutes on every match) , but still they have satisfying results. Curling Cup have some importance to Chelsea , but Mourinho said he want to rest few players and also Chelsea have to think about more important competition this season ( Premier league) so I suppose they will not be 100% in match tonight. John Terry and Carlo Cudicini are out and possibly few players will be rested too.

Chelsea squad: : Hilario, Hedman, Cudicini, Ferreira, Boulahrouz, Geremi, Carvalho, A Cole, Bridge, Essien, Ballack, Makelele, Lampard, Drogba, Shevchenko, Diarra, Wright-Phillips, Robben, Kalou.


I fancy Magpies here . They have home advantage and in my opinion they are more motivated , so I would not be surprised if they pass to another round. My pick is Newcastle AH 1.

SS Lazio - FC Inter

Lazio have really great performances whole season and they are very tough opponent for every team especially when they play at Olimpico. Lately , they have really good results , losing only against Fiorentina away 1:0 , and defeating Messina , Ascoli and at last home match Roma 3:0. They expect this clash after drew with Livorno away 1:1. The only problem in front of this match is missing of great striker Rocchi , but Pandev is still in team and I expect lot from young striker tonight. Mutarelli is another missing from Lazio .

Xerez - Hercules

Xerez is a team with ambitions to play in Primera next year. One month ago everything were just perfect but after match against Tenerife which Xerez have won 0:2 they are without win in four consecutive matches. Xerez drew with two direct opponents for promotion , Murcia and Almeria , but then heavily lost at home against team from lower part of the table Cadiz 1:4. They are currently on second place with 5 points and one match less than first Valladolid. They are now in a must win situation. For match against Hercules , two players are absent , Pedro Rios and Granero , but great news are comeback of two very important players , defender Bajic and midfielder Moreno.

Roda - Vitesse

Roda comes to match after last week lost in last minutes of the match against Heerenveen 1:0. Roda is laying at 8th place with just 3 points more than 11th Vitesse. Both teams have pretty similar squad composed of many young players and that’s why both teams showed inconsistency during this season. Roda is not so great lately and at home usually win one match , then lose another , so definitely not very reliable team. Roda will be without van Dessel and Rompelberg and something will be changed in team formation. Player to watch here is certainly striker Ramzi who has scored 6 goals in Eredivisie.

Chelsea - Newcastle

This could be a crucial match for hosts. Current gap between Chelsea and Manchester Utd is 8 points and with the win today Chelsea will decrease difference to acceptable 5 points. Chelsea is without win in two consecutive EPL matches . They’ve drew with both Manchester and Arsenal 1:1. I really can’t remember when Chelsea under Mourinho missed two matches in a row. All in team are extremely motivated for this match , because all are aware of importance to take 3 points in match. Chelsea is still without first choice GK Cech, also Joe Cole and Cudicini are out.

First step is always creating of bank . Next step is creating of one series with seven levels. Basically, odds are not very important for this strategy , but I prefer odds 1.50 and higher

Nantes - Le Mans

After poor start of the season Nantes have started with better performances in past few rounds, but they still do not have results on expected level. After home win against Monaco 1:0 they are without win more than one month, but at home they have decent performances lately. Last round they’ve lost away fixture against Rennes 2:0. Until winter break there are three more matches in France league and by the words of Nantes coach , they will try to win maximum points from those fixtures. It’s a bit unrealistic expectation , but motivation in team is high and all in team want to reclaim current table position . Today Nantes will be without injured Heurtebis and K.Diop, also Wilhelsson and Boukhari are out ,but in team are back Rossi and Da Rocha.

Leverkusen - Hertha

This match attract my attention today. Leverkusen laying at 12th place with 19 points. They have similar performances both home and away and in my opinion home ground is not big advantage in this match . Last round they drew with Bielefeld away 0:0 and match before they’ve won at home against Cottbus 3:1. They do not have standard form and this season they cannot find a winning rhythm. Tonight they are without captain Ramelow while Barnetta is back in team.

FC Porto - Arsenal

Lot of controversy about this match . Both teams need draw to be qualified for the next stage of competition. Should they play draw? Maybe, I don’t want to exclude this option , but I will never play X for 1.65-1.70 price.

Porto comes to this match after 3 consecutive wins in Champions League. They are in good form , both in domestic championship and CL and team with such results should be slight favorite tonight. Porto’s coach said for newspapers they want to win tonight in match. They lost in London 2:0 and I’m sure Porto want to compensate this lost. For Porto Paulo Assunção and Fucile are back in team and they will be in full strength for this match

Roma - Valencia

Roma is almost qualified for net round of competition. They need draw tonight and they will qualify for sure even if Shakhtar win in Greece , because they have positive score with this team. In first match , in Valencia Roma lost 2:1, but off course Valencia was some different team then. For tonight I suppose Roma want to win , but following Italian teams in the past they were often satisfied with results actually fit to their ambitions. For this match captain Totti is out for sure while creative midfielder Perotta is a doubt but there are fair chances to play tonight.

Feyenoord - Heerenveen

Feyenoord expect this match after two difficult matches , last weekend against NEC 4:1 and in the midweek against Nancy 3:0. Embarrassing results for big name of Dutch football. After match against Nancy , Feyenoord’s coach was very anger on players because they lost match in easy manner without enough effort on field. After home win against title chasers AZ , Feyenoord is in row of poor results. Match against Heerenveen is a chance for Feyenoord to back on winning ways again. Main doubt for today’s match is team captain Theo Lucius but in my opinion he will probably play on match either like starter or substitution. Team still miss Castelen , Schreuder , Collen, Ekramy, Lodewijks and Tiendalli while Buys is suspended.
